Chromium(VI) oxide - The oxidant that makes oxidants!


There exist numerous chromium oxidizing reagents, derived from Chromium(VI) oxide, Jones reagent & PCC being two important examples. In Jones oxidation, primary and secondary alcohols are converted by Chromic acid to carboxylic acids and ketones respectively.
