How to Predict whether the Transition State Will Be Reactant-like or Product-like or…

Hammond’s postulate (or the Hammond-Leffler postulate) helps us predict whether a transition state (TS) may be reactant-like or product-like (or something else) in an exothermic/endothermic reaction.


If we consider potential energy diagrams (reaction profiles), it’s well understood.
