How to Figure out Relative Solubilities of Different Salts or Bases – Part 1

The lattice energy U is the energy change (released) upon formation of one mole of a crystalline compound from its infinitely separated constituents, assumed to initially be in the gaseous state at 0 K.

Lattice dissociation energy/enthalpy is endothermic (heat absorbed).

The hydration energy/enthalpy ΔH is the amount of energy released (exothermic) when one mole of ions undergoes solvation.

Question:

Why is Be(OH)2 almost insoluble in water while Ba(OH)2 is soluble?
